APPENDIX B.2 (1999) - 220.512 (3) : It must be able to be opened while the engine is running without that it results from it dangerous tensions. Its use does not have to risk to cause the inflammation of an explosive atmosphere; this can be realized by the use of a casing with protection degree IP 65 in accordance with IEC standard 529. APPENDIX B.2 (1999) - 220.514 : The electric supply of the tachograph is made by way of a safety barrier (current limiter) connected directly to the battery. The tachograph and the current limiter have to satisfy the prescriptions related to the associated electric devices, according to the European standard EN50020.

APPENDIX B.2 (1999) - 220.512 (2) : Direct or indirect control devices shall be installed in the driver?s cab for the first one and outside of the vehicle for the second one. The control device of the driver?s cab shall be readily accessible to the driver. It shall be protected against inadvertent operation by either adding a protective cover by using a dual movement control device or by other suitable means.
